The journey to becoming a parent
Therapy for pregnancy and postpartum, from trying to conceive to childbirth and beyond.
You’re tired of feeling alone, like no one else understands what you’re going through.
this may not BE what you expected becoming a parent to be like.
The journey to becoming a parent is not always linear. It can bring up unexpected experiences, fears, and emotions.
Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, like postpartum depression and anxiety, affect as many as 1 in 5 moms and 1 in 10 dads.
Symptoms can include sadness, difficulty bonding with the baby, anxiety and panic, trouble leaving the baby, intrusive thoughts that upset or scare you, trouble sleeping even when the baby sleeps, appetite changes, and more.
Most of us have expectations of what becoming a parent will be like, and when our reality does not meet those expectations, it can be really upsetting. Nothing is wrong with you. You don’t have to go through this alone. Therapy can help.
Sound like you?
Struggling with the adjustment to parenthood
Feelings of sadness, anxiety, and/or guilt
Ready to stop overthinking every single decision
Wishing that you could enjoy this new role more
Here’s what we’ll do together
Therapy can help you find support, learn how to cope, and find ways to enjoy this major transition.
My main goal as your therapist is to help you feel safe and comfortable so that you know you can show up exactly as you are. There is so much pressure on moms to be “perfect,” and I want you to know I think that is nonsense.
Together in therapy we will learn new ways of adjusting to this new role, treat any symptoms that you are experiencing like anxiety, sadness, or grief, and help you become the parent you want to be.
If you have experienced a negative event like a traumatic birth, NICU stay, or high risk pregnancy, I can help. Using EMDR therapy, we can process that experience so that you feel less affected and able to move forward with a sense of acceptance. I want you to know you are not alone in this and I will be with you every step of the way.
At the end of the day, I want you to know:
You are a good parent, and with support you can feel like the best parent for your kids, because you are!
What we’ll work on
Imagine a life where…
You really feel like the best parent for your kid(s).
Your relationship with your partner isn’t affected by your parenting struggles.
You feel more like yourself every day.
Your past experiences no longer have such a strong hold over your present.
Change is possible.

I am biased, but I think therapy is right for everyone! As moms, we have the toughest job possible and are oftentimes isolated doing it. Extra support can be so helpful! Schedule a free consultation with me and we can chat to discuss your unique situation and see if I might be a good fit.

Yes! I welcome you AND your baby, and have some supplies in my office like swaddle blankets, small toys, and books, to help make both you and baby comfortable. I have had moms nurse and pump during sessions to make the most use of their time. I also offer virtual sessions if that makes more sense for your situation.

I am not a physician so I do not prescribe medications. Part of my job is to help you consider the pros and cons of taking medications as well as the benefits and potential risks of not taking medications. It is always your choice!
